Group Therapy

for teens

What is DBT?

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment that helps clients learn skills to manage emotions, cope with challenges, and improve relationships. DBT in a group setting can be a useful addition to individual therapy for teens. These treatments and methods give adolescents a chance to participate with others who might be going through similar experiences and feel a sense of belonging. It also gives them a safe environment to learn and build necessary skills to support emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.

Groups require a 1-hour intake and assessment as well as a release of information form to allow us to collaborate with other care providers.

Note: to be part of group therapy, members need to commit to attend regularly every week for the whole period, attend willingly, complete homework to the fullest extent possible, and agree to our policy to not have outside contact with other members while the group is in session.

Group Care helps with things like:

Managing intense emotions

Recovering from eating disorders

Reducing impulsivity and risky behaviors

Reducing substance abuse and self-harm
