Hi! I’m Rachel, a Social Work Practicum Student at Mala Child and Family Institute. As I work towards my Master’s in Social Work Degree, I’m excited to enhance my skills and gain clinical experience. I’m passionate about providing direct mental health support and therapy to children and teenagers, and I’m dedicated to supporting my clients through their journeys and challenges. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and positive environment where clients feel valued and understood. I’m committed to offering support and am excited to be a part of the Mala community!

Get to know Rachel

  • I decided to become a mental health professional because I’ve always had a strong connection with others and a natural ability to empathize and support people through their challenges. From a young age, people sought me out for help, and I found deep fulfillment in being there for them. Over time, my passion for connecting with others and problem-solving grew, making it clear that a career as a clinical social worker was the perfect way for me to use my skills and dedication to others to make a meaningful impact on someone's life.

  • My mom inspires me with her constant positivity and genuine care for others, no matter the circumstances. Her ability to stay upbeat and rarely complain, even in difficult times, is truly motivating. Her optimism and selflessness show the impact of a positive attitude and compassionate heart, and encourage me to approach my own life and work with similar traits.

  • I’m passionate about helping individuals with both major challenges and navigating everyday life. I find joy in helping others to build resilience and develop effective tools for managing their daily lives, as well as during significant challenges. I believe everyone deserves a supportive and empathetic environment where they feel comfortable exploring their feelings and experiences.
