Gio Parochetti PMHNP, BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Ann Arbor & Virtual
Hello! I'm Giovanni, but most call me Gio, I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner here at Mala Child & Family Institute. I have been a registered nurse for over ten years, with the last five years working with children and teens. I have worked for the past four years at the University of Michigan in the inpatient adolescent and child unit. I have also spent some time working on the adult unit at the University of Michigan.
I have a strong desire to help kids navigate through their mental health challenges as I was once that kid who struggled with my own mental health. With me not navigating through those challenges as a child my adulthood came with struggles. Once I had my son, I realized I needed to deal with those childhood traumas. I wanted to show my son that it is okay to ask for help and do the hard things to understand your emotions.
I received my Bachelor of Nursing from Colorado Mesa University and my Master of Nursing from Wayne State University. I am board certified through the American Nurses American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner PMHNP - BC
In my free time, I love to be outdoors as much as possible this helps me with my own mental health. I strongly believe if we connect with the earth and take a moment to see things around us it will help us navigate through our struggles. I have a wife (Kelly) who is my biggest supporter and an eight-year-old son (Vinny). We also have two dogs, Sammy who is a 15-year-old mini pincher mix, and Pluto who is a corgi and still a pup.
