Elizabeth Webster MA, LPC, ATR
Professional Counselor & Supervisor
Farmington Hills, & Online
Elizabeth, or "Ms. Liz", is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist, earning a dual Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling and Art Therapy from Wayne State University.
Elizabeth identifies as being part of the neurodivergent population, she knows firsthand how beautiful and difficult it can be to experience the world differently than others. As someone who was always considered "sensitive", she had found that her passion is to help children, families and adults having recently been diagnosed or exploring the idea of a "neurodivergent" diagnosis.
Feeling different, misunderstood or constantly camouflaging for others can lead to feelings of shame or isolation. Elizabeth aims to support individuals with their self-exploration; to build confidence, seek possible accommodations, manage any related chronic illness, and to identify coping strategies for when life feels a bit too much.
No two people are alike, especially when involving individual needs and concerns. Being a “neurodivergent" advocate, counselor and credentialed Art Therapist, allows Elizabeth to work with a personal understanding with those who may need a non-traditional approach in therapy.
Some, like her, find solace, serenity and comfort through art. The use of Art Therapy is a specialization that can be integrated into counseling sessions. Using an integrative approach allows her to work with clients collaboratively, in a way that will fit them as an individual.
In addition to art therapy, Elizabeth utilizes approaches that involve strategies that integrates knowledge of lifespan development, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness and reality therapy. She has also can provide informed-based approaches since completing trainings in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DIR: Floortime and Motivational Interviewing.
In addition to providing psychotherapy services, Elizabeth provides Clinical Supervision for internships, limited licensed professional counselors and provisional art therapists.
"I believe that the therapeutic process is fostered by building upon a trusting and empathetic relationship. Establishing rapport helps me better understand presenting concerns, as well as helps tailor specific methods to integrate into sessions. Change is be hard, and seeking help can be intimidating. You are here, and that in itself is brave. I believe having a person to process life with, that has no biased opinions and a lending ear, can be a validating and empowering experience. I aim to provide a safe space and be my client’s confidant. As your therapist, I hope I can be that person."

I love being able to experience clients “let loose” in art therapy, but I truly love being the non-judgmental support for when life feels a bit too much– because on some days we need to vent, and on other days we may need to paint.

That they feel safe, confident and supported to be their authentic selves.

I've experienced the firsthand benefits of working with a mental health professional, and the experience was truly life-changing. I've always had a passion for helping others, and after learning that "Art therapy" was a profession that could combine my interests of psychology and my bachelor's in fine art, I knew it was the career for me.
