Ann Arbor, Plymouth, Farmington Hills & Remote

I Hello! I’m Brenna Reichman, a clinician-in-training at Mala Child & Family Institute. I’m currently pursuing my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training and I’m excited to be here furthering my experience in supporting clients and their families. My key values as a care provider are empathy, respect, and inclusivity, with a focus on ways I can help make a difference in the lives of clients and their families, and the wider impact this can have on the community. One of my passions is increasing access to a range of gender-affirming care to clients across the age spectrum. My clients inspire me with their bravery, and I am humbled and honored to help them become their authentic selves.

Get to know Brenna

  • When I was earning my nursing degree back in 2009, one of the faculty shared that she was both a Family Nurse Practitioner as well as a PMHNP. She said that she felt compelled to return to school to earn the PMHNP credential because at its root, everything is about mental health. This stuck with me, and here I am fifteen years later doing the same. From my work with women veterans to people who are incarcerated to gender non-conforming people, I see so often how mental illness and trauma impacts our life paths. All of these experiences have shaped my interest in mental health and confirmed this career choice as the best and right one for me.

  • “Authenticity is a collection of choices that we make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
    – Brene Brown

  • To feel safe enough to bring up their questions, their concerns and their fears. To be listened to and heard. To be treated with respect, dignity, and care. To receive the information and support they need. To feel encouraged and empowered in taking care of their health and living their lives authentically.

  • Each and every one of my gender non-conforming clients. Their bravery is awe-inspiring.

  • I am passionate about increasing access to gender-affirming care.
