April Titus

Psychology Practicum Student

Farmington Hills

I am April Titus, a counseling intern pursuing my dual master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling at Walden University. Throughout the years I have been in touch with my motherly instincts which have drawn me to helping others. When I took my first psychology class in high school, I immediately became fascinated with the human mind and the power it can hold. As a counseling intern, I’m dedicated to supporting individuals on their personal journey toward healing and growth. I have completed my School Counseling internship With Plymouth Canton High School. I worked closely with students on an academic and personal level to help them overcome the day-to-day challenges to reach their fullest potential. During my internship, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations, and through collaborations, we were able to reach the goals of the students in a unified manner. My approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, where I believe in creating a positive environment for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. I will work in collaboration with my clients to develop skills to help modify their thinking, beliefs, and responses to a more positive outlook. I will be attending workshops to deepen my understanding of different aspects of counseling throughout my journey at Mala. I have a wonderful blended family, I have five children of my own and two step-sons. When I am not working on my studies I love to take my kids out on adventures such as canoeing, hiking, or helping me in our gardens. As an intern, I take my studies and challenges very seriously and look forward to learning each day.
